July 2, 2023, 8.30 am – 3pm
The inaugural Gympie Rotary HERITAGE MAKERS FAIR, launched 25 years ago as a fundraiser, showcased the skills of our region’s quilters and artisan craftspeople. Then known as the Quilt & Craft Spectacular, it was held in Gympie’s Pavilion – within a few years, through the efforts of Rotarians of continually raising the bar, it is now considered one of the largest crafting events in SE Queensland.
However, it was of little interest to many men. To encourage men to come along to the event, in 2018, the Club decided to combine the Quilt & Craft Spectacular with an Ancient Crafts, Rare Trades Expo – even throwing in the age-old art of brewing: craft beer – and tastings. It was an outstanding success, generating a healthy profit – all the result of the labours of a small band of volunteers.
Major beneficiary Little Haven Palliative Care & Cancer Support continues to benefit from the event. They, like a number of other non-profit organisations, not only benefit from funds raised at the event but also from providing services throughout the weekend.
In total over $60,000 was raised from last year’s event and over 3000 people attended.
Our Club, the Rotary Club of Gympie, has just received a grant of $8500 from the RACQ Foundation to organise a display of vintage and veteran classic vehicles and motorcycles as part of this year’s HERITAGE MAKERS FAIR.
With your help, we can do this – and the $8500 will be forwarded on to Gympie Gold Mining & Historical Museum
to assist in the restoration of vintage and rare motors and machinery damaged during the devastating 2022 floods.
Please assist the Gympie Rotary Club to help the Museum.
